COURSE   Course Map  (2500m loop x 2)
Frederick Law Olmsted, creator of the Buffalo Olmsted Park System and father of American landscape architecture, believed the purpose of green space was to “refresh and delight the eye and through the eye, mind and spirit.” Upon touring the City of Buffalo in 1868, he convinced the city’s leaders that not one park – as in New York City’s Central Park – but multiple parks would better serve Buffalo’s needs. The jewel of this system of Buffalo Olmsted parks was the 350 acre Delaware Park.

The Delaware Park meadow has been continuously used for cross country championships since the 1901 Pan-Am Expo. Local high schools and universities hold annual cross country meets on various iterations of the course. It is open enough to accommodate the largest fields of runners and has plenty of free parking on the ring road surrounding the course.

The 2018 USATF Masters 5 km Cross Country Championships, which includes the Can-Am Masters Challenge along with three additional community races will all be using a basic 2500m
100% grass loop course. 5k runners will travel twice around the loop. The start/finish area is located adjacent to the Buffalo Zoo inside the Meadow Drive road loop.
