Chandler and Swabik win national youth titles in North Carolina
results
(2-Jul) Last week three members of USATF Niagara competed at the USATF National Youth Championships in Durham, North Carolina. All three earned trips to the awards podium with two of them climbing to the highest spot on the podium as they won national titles. In all the three athletes earned five championship medals for their top-eight finishes in their events.
Winning national titles were
Isaac Chandler
(unattached) and
John Swabik
(Chautauqua Striders). Chandler won the boys 17-18 pole vault clearing 4.42m (14-06). He also finished fifth in the 110m Hurdles running 15.51. Swabik won the 15-16 boys Decathlon with a score of 5660 points.
Maggie Houp
(Soar Running Club) finished fifth in the girls 11-12 Javelin (15.09m / 49-06, seventh in the 1500m (5;26.30), and 10th in the 800m (2:35.50).
