ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

Individuals: Current USATF Niagara membership is required to compete. Proof of Birth (copy of birth certificate, passport, certified baptismal record, driver’s license, or U.S. government identification) is required and must be submitted prior to registration and participation.

Before entring, each athlete's proof of date of birth must be submitted (uploaded) to the athlete's USATF member profile via USATF Connect.  documents received via email will not be processed.
 
Teams: Only registered USATF Niagara member clubs may enter a team.  All athletes representing the club must be affiliated with that club as part of their USATF membership.  To enter a team, a club must complete the team entry/declaration process during online registrations.  Only athletes listed on the team declaration roster will be eligible to represent the club at the Association, Regional or National championships.   
 

ENTRY FEES & DEADLINES: 

ENTRY DEADLINE:   Late entries will not be allowed

all on-time entries are due by November 10 at 11:59 pm EDT.  
Please do not wait until the last minute to begin your registration.

TEAM SCORING

Team scoring is divided into five divisions for boys and five divisions for girls. The athlete’s year of birth shall determine the division in which the athlete shall compete.

# the two oldest age divisions (15-16 and 17-18) will be a combined (15-18) team division. These divisions will compete together in the same race and athletes will continue to compete in their 2-year division as a individuals.
8 athletes on the team entry/declaration form may be declared as scoring athletes.  The top 5 finishers among the declared runners will score to determine the team's final score. 
 

COURSE INFORMATION

The course will be a mix of open fields and short wooded sections. There is a 2 km loop and a 1 km loop that will be utilized as follows:

  • The 2 km course is a rolling grass with a short wooded section.  
  • The 3 km course includes the 2 km loop with an additional 1 km loop. 
  • The 4 km course will loop the 2 km course twice, 
  • The 5 km course will loop the 2 km loop twice and then the 1 km loop

COMPETITION BIB NUMBERS

All competitors must wear their assigned bib numbers during competition, chest-high on the front of their jerseys.  Bib numbers will be distributed to athletes starting at 9:30 A.M. on race day.

AWARDS

USATF championship medals will be awarded to the top six (6) individuals in each age division. Individual awards will be handed out in the finishing chute. Team awards will be handed out afterwards.
 


ADVANCEMENTS TO NATIONALS

The top 15 individuals and top 2 teams in each age division at the Niagara Championships will qualify to advance to the USATF National Junior Olympic Championships (December 9; Louisville, KY).

There will not be a regional championship in 2023.
