Coppi 39th at World Mountain Running Championships in Thailand

USATF Niagara member Mason Coppi, 24, of Syracuse recently competed at the inaugural World Mountain and Trail Running Championships in Thailand.  The event was initially schedule for 2021 but was delayed due to the COVID pandemic.

Coppi, representing Team USA for the first time, finished 39th in the Up and Down Mountain Race covering the 10.7 km course (with 1,558 feet of elevation gain) in 46:12. Coppi was the third scorer for Team USA's 9th place team finish. Daniel Curts (16th; 43:35) and Andy Wacker (37th; 45:45) were the other Team USA scorers. The race was won by Samuel Kibet of Uganda in 40:32.
