Piraino Seventh at USATF Vertical Mountain Running Championships in New Hampshire

The
2024 USATF Vertical Mountain Running Championships
were held on Sunday (7-July) at Loon Mountain Resort in Lincoln, NH. The event served as the Team USA selection race for the upcoming World Mountain & Trail Running Championships in Chiavenna, Italy on October 12. . The top two finishers earned Team USA spots.
The 6-mile mountain course started at the base of Loon Mountain and wound its way up the ski area on a mixture of dirt and gravel service road, and steep, grassy slopes to the summit just beyond the famed Upper Walking Boss black diamond ski run. In total, the elevation gain from start to finish was 3066 feet.
Four (4) athletes from USATF Niagara were among the 226 competitors in the USATF championship races.
In the women's competition,
Lindsay Piraino
, 26, of Rush finished seventh running 57:35 while
Annie Ball
, 40, of Dansville stopped the clock at 1:27:54 finishing 38th overall and fifth in the women's 40-44 masters division.
In the men's race
Adam Pacheck
, 32, of Somerville, MA finished 14th running 57:37. It was the second straight year that Pacheck has finished in the top-20.
EJ Boyce
, 43, of Danville finished 25th overall and was second in the men's 40-44 masters division.
