Don Lawrence Honored as 2025 USATF Niagara Official of the Year

In a fitting tribute to his tireless commitment and leadership, Don Lawrence has been named the 2025 USATF Niagara Official of the Year. This prestigious award celebrates individuals whose dedication, outstanding effort, and positive contributions have significantly enhanced the sport of track & field. The award was presented to Lawerence by USATF Niagara Official Certification Chair Kathy Mc during the Niagara Annual Meeting on Sunday (24-Aug).

Lawrence, who currently serves as President of USATF Niagara, is deeply woven into both regional and national officiating efforts. He frequently officiates, supports, and directs meets—in Western New York and across the nation—making him a familiar and highly respected presence at weekend competitions. 

His long-standing service includes being a USATF Association‑level official since 2012, honing his expertise and earning the respect of peers and athletes alike. 

As a delegate to USATF Annual Meetings for over 30 years, Lawrence brings institutional knowledge and guidance to the broader governance of the sport. 

In addition, he holds national leadership positions, including roles as Vice Chair of the USATF Associations Committee and Vice Chair of the USATF Race Walking Committee. 

Over the years, Lawrence has exemplified both administrative leadership and field-level excellence, cementing his reputation as a distinguished official. His ability to balance critical organizational responsibilities while remaining actively engaged in officiating exemplifies the spirit of the Official of the Year award.
