Kostarellis 12th, Orie 20th at USATF 20 km Championships

USATF Niagara athletes turned in strong performances at the USATF 20 km Championships held September 1 in New Haven, Connecticut. The national championship brought together the country’s top road racers for the Labor Day tradition through downtown streets.

Leading the way for Niagara was Annamaria Kostarellis, who placed 12th overall in the women’s race, clocking 1:08:11. She was followed by Gabrielle Orie, the newly crowned USATF Niagara 5 km champion from the previous day, who finished 20th in 1:11:57. Bella Burda rounded out the trio, crossing the line 29th in 1:15:55.

The women’s race was won by Aubrey Frentheway of Utah, who captured her first U.S. title in 1:05:36.
